What is Vaginal Rejuvenation?

Non-Surgical Vaginal Rejuvenation with FemTouch™ 

FemTouch™ is a minimally-invasive, non-surgical CO2 laser that can address many vaginal health issues without the need for downtime. Performed in the Age Management Center at Lemmon Avenue Plastic Surgery Center, FemTouch™ works by gently heating the skin and tissues inside and outside your vagina. The body’s response to this heat is to produce more healing collagen and elastin. The former helps to lift and plump the tissues, restoring hydration and lubrication, while the latter helps tighten the tissues. The end result is a more youthful looking, tighter feeling vagina. 

The pros of the FemTouch™ is that it requires no:

  • General anesthesia
  • Incisions
  • Downtime for recovery

You can have the procedure and carry on with your day although you do need to avoid intercourse for 72 hours.  Furthermore, the FemTouch™ procedure is painless and fast, only taking about 15 minutes. However, you will need anywhere from 2-4 sessions, spaced 4-6 weeks apart. Also, while it can improve a mild degree of laxity in the labia minora, it will not improve inner lips that hang significantly below the outer lips. This requires a surgical labiaplasty.

What is a Labiaplasty?

Labiaplasty is a surgical procedure to trim down labia minora that protrude past the labia majora. Some woman are born with inner lips that hang below their outer lips while for others, it’s the result of skin laxity brought on by:

  • Childbirth
  • Age
  • Menopause
  • Weight loss

There are a number of different labiaplasty techniques. The easiest is the external trimming technique. Dr. Deuber is not a fan because a labiaplasty is more than simply cutting away the excess skin. Your vagina is an organ that must expand and contract. Simply trimming down the outer edge may leave a tight scar that restricts this movement, causing more problems than it solves. For this reason, Dr. Deuber utilizes the central wedge technique in all of his labiaplasty procedures.

Labiaplasty Procedure Overview

Dr. Deuber performs his labiaplasty procedures under general anesthesia at Lemmon Avenue Surgery Center, his on-site, state-certified and fully accredited day surgery center in Dallas. After first marking the area, he will cut away a wedge of excess labia tissue. What makes this unique, however, is that the excision pattern on the inside aspect of the labia is different than the one on the outside. The inside incision resembles a sideways V while the outside incision is more of an upside down V. The advantages of this are twofold. It preserves the outside edge of the labia so that there is no painful, outer scar, and it allows Dr. Deuber to easily address the clitoral hood if necessary. He then closes the incisions with absorbable sutures.

Labiaplasty Recovery Process

Labiaplasty patients can expect some swelling and soreness after surgery. These are delicate tissues so pain medication may be necessary, but the majority of the swelling will dissipate in a few days. Dr. Deuber wants you up and showering the same day as surgery and you are welcome to drive carpool the next day if you feel up to it. He does ask that you refrain from intercourse, using tampons and riding a bike for 6 weeks. Otherwise, you should be back to most of your daily routines within a week.
