Dallas Rhinoplasty
Rhinoplasty is a surgical procedure that is all about balance. Since the nose sits in the middle of your face, when it is out of proportion, it can make you feel self-conscious. The goal of nose job surgery is to restore harmony to your face by creating a nose that blends in with your surrounding facial features. This may entail reducing the width of your nose, removing a large hump or fixing any nostril asymmetry. Rhinoplasty surgery will not only improve the aesthetics of your nose, but also its function, addressing any breathing issues that may be caused by an obstruction.
Board Certified Plastic Surgeon, Dr. Mark Deuber, is a perfectionist who is known for his attention to detail and keen artistic eye. These are both of paramount importance with rhinoplasty surgery where even a millimeter can make a difference. As an early adopter of the 24 hour breast augmentation, he has a long history of mapping out every step of a procedure before he ever sets foot into the operating room. This emphasis on meticulous planning is a cornerstone of the Deuber difference. It also makes him an extremely effective rhinoplasty surgeon.
What is Rhinoplasty?
Rhinoplasty is a surgical procedure to improve the appearance of your nose by addressing:
- Facial imbalance
- Nostril size and position
- Width of the nose
- Bulbous or misshapen tip
- Nasal asymmetry
- Angle of nasal tip
- Large hump
- Depression on the bridge of the nose
A nose job can also correct a nasal airway obstruction that may be affecting your breathing such as:
- Deviated septum
- Excessively large turbinates
It is a highly technical, artistic surgery that can permanently alter the size, shape and function of your nose.
Non-Surgical & Surgical Rhinoplasty
The biggest deterrent for patients when it comes to scheduling a rhinoplasty is a fear of the recovery. Maybe you’ve read horror stories online. But Dr. Deuber is passionate about delivering the highest quality result for his Dallas area and beyond patients. This is why every procedure he performs has a faster recovery with less pain than is the norm. With his rhinoplasty patients, he does not place internal splints or packing in your nose. He also uses the same unique surgical technique as he does in his 24 hour recovery breast augmentation procedures. This means that while you may experience some discomfort immediately after surgery, you will not have as much bruising or swelling so there will be less post-operative pain, allowing you to return to your normal activities much more quickly.
Furthermore, our Age Management Center offers patients the option of a liquid nose job. This non-surgical procedure can address certain aesthetic issues with fillers, subtly improving the appearance of a hump and/or asymmetry, for example. The results are not permanent and the procedure isn’t right for everyone, but many patients love the idea of no downtime. Deciding which rhinoplasty is right for you is always going to begin with an in-person consultation.
Get a Rhinoplasty Consultation with Dr. Deuber
The ideal candidate for a rhinoplasty is any man or woman, 20 years or older, who is in good overall health, a non-smoker, and bothered by the size and shape of the nose. During your rhinoplasty consultation, Dr. Deuber will ask you what, exactly, you dislike about your nose. The goal is not to focus on what you want your nose to look like, but, instead, uncover the issues that are making your nose stand out.
He will inquire into your medical history as well as any other aesthetic procedures that you may have had, particularly any prior nose surgeries. Then, he will perform a thorough physical examination, taking careful measurements, to assess:
- Skin tone and texture
- Size of the nose in relation to the rest of your facial features
- Bridge bumps and/or depressions
- Asymmetry
- Angle of the tip of your nose
- Tip shape
- Breathing issues
Then, together, the two of you will discuss the best procedure or procedures for your anatomy, desired outcome and lifestyle.
What is a Liquid Rhinoplasty?
A liquid rhinoplasty that uses fillers to improve the appearance of the nose is appealing to patients for many reasons. It is a non-surgical procedure so there is no:
- General anesthesia
- Incisions
- Downtime for recovery
However, a non-surgical rhinoplasty is not an ideal option for patients with extremely thick skin as any filler must be molded into place. In a procedure where even a millimeter can make a profound difference, this may prove problematic. It’s also not great for patients with a really wide nasal profile or who’ve had previous nasal surgeries. But it can be a nice way to camouflage a bump or misshapen tip, improve symmetry and/or “try out” what your nose will look like before you commit to surgery. The nice thing about coming to Lemmon Avenue Plastic Surgery Center in Dallas is that we offer our patients the full range of rhinoplasty options.
What are the Benefits of Rhinoplasty?
Rhinoplasty is one of those surgeries that rests right at the crossroad between art and science. It is a highly technical procedure that also requires a truly creative mind. Dr. Deuber has the gift of being able to look at a patient and know exactly what needs to be done in order to restore balance. This eye for harmony and design permeates every aspect of his life from the home that he and his wife, Cary, designed together, to the gorgeous food that he prepares on his Instagram famous stove, to his exemplary aesthetic results.
Having begun his career on Wall Street, Dr. Deuber also understands the benefits of the efficiency model. Attention to detail, careful communication and meticulous planning are the bedrock of the Deuber difference because they help ensure a faster, less painful recovery while also reducing your risk for post-operative complications.
Rhinoplasty Procedure Overview
Dr. Deuber performs all of his rhinoplasty procedures under general anesthesia at Lemmon Avenue Surgery Center, his on-site, state-certified and fully accredited day surgery center in Dallas. He performs an open rhinoplasty using precise dissection. This allows him to cauterize the blood vessels before cutting so that there is virtually no bleeding. The end result is a significant reduction in post-operative swelling and bruising.
Dr. Deuber will make an incision on your columella, which is the skin between your nostrils, and up inside the nose. The skin is then elevated, giving him a direct line of vision to all of your nasal cartilage and bones. He will make the necessary adjustments given your individual needs. The entire procedure takes anywhere from 2-3 hours.

Rhinoplasty Recovery Process
Dr. Deuber does not use internal splints, and he does not pack the nose. These two factors make your rhinoplasty recovery considerably more pleasant. After surgery, your nose will be swollen and certain areas will feel numb. This is normal. You will wear a flesh-colored, external splint over the dorsum or upper bony part of the nose, and have stitches in your columella for 5 days. Patients who need to have the bone adjusted can expect bruising, particularly around the lower eyes, for about 3 weeks. However, once the stitches are out after day 5, this bruising can easily be covered with makeup.
The worst part of the recovery is that for the first night, you will have a headache, as if you’ve read too much, and for a week, you will feel like you have a head cold. It’s not painful, but it is a nuisance as you can’t stick your head under the shower or splash water on your face due to the splint.
While the majority of the swelling will resolve in 3-6 weeks, you may have some residual swelling, particularly at the tip, for 4-6 months. The good news is that this swelling is so slight that you will be the only one to notice it. The best thing about rhinoplasty is that it delivers instant gratification. You will see the improvement in your appearance immediately and things will only get better with time.
