Facelift, Brow Lift, and Blepharoplasty (Eyelid Surgery) in Dallas, Texas
Dr. Mark A. Deuber is not only a skilled breast augmentation surgeon, but also a facial rejuvenation expert. Dr. Deuber can subtly reduce the signs of aging with his focus always on maintaining a natural look. Our practice offers three procedures for cosmetic facial rejuvenation: facelift, brow lift, and blepharoplasty (eyelid surgery). At a consultation at our Dallas, Texas office, Dr. Deuber can identify your problem areas and recommend a procedure that will have the best results for you.
Facelift
Facelift surgery can restore youthful beauty to an aging face. An experienced facial rejuvenation surgeon such as Dr. Deuber can lift and tighten the face, targeting the sagging areas that lend an aged, tired appearance to otherwise attractive features. Facelift surgery is often performed in conjunction with a brow lift or blepharoplasty.
The Facelift Procedure
At the Dallas, Texas practice of Dr. Deuber, all facelift incisions are hidden behind the hairline. During the facelift surgery procedure, Dr. Deuber pulls back the facial skin and trims away excess tissue. He also tightens facial muscles for a firmer and more attractive facial contour, being careful to achieve a natural appearance for his patient. The facial skin is temporarily held in place by stitches or staples until it heals in its new position. Immediately after surgery, Dr. Deuber loosely bandages the treated area. Pain medication will be given to the patient to eliminate any discomfort that he or she may feel after surgery.
Recovery After Facelift
During the recovery period, facelift patients may experience swelling, numbness, and skin discoloration. Within two weeks after surgery, all of these side effects will subside. The head should be kept elevated and immobile for the first few days after surgery to speed the recovery process. Approximately one week after facelift surgery, the patient revisits our Dallas, Texas practice for a follow-up appointment. Dr. Deuber checks on the patient’s progress, removes stitches, and discusses when the patient may return to work.
Brow Lift
For patients with wrinkled, furrowed, or drooping forehead areas, brow lift surgery is an excellent cosmetic option. Serving all of Texas, Dr. Deuber provides patients with excellent brow lift results that are natural-looking yet address the problems associated with a drooping or wrinkled forehead area.
The Brow Lift Procedure
Dr. Deuber begins brow lift surgery by making an incision behind the hairline so that the scars will not be visible. This incision is made from ear to ear. Through this incision, Dr. Deuber reshapes the tissue to reduce the prominence of horizontal wrinkles and furrows. Some of the underlying muscle tissue may be removed to create a smoother brow, but a brow lift performed by Dr. Deuber will not significantly affect the patient’s ability to make normal, natural facial expressions. In many cases, the eyebrows will be in a higher position on the patient’s forehead than they were before, creating attractive, angled brows. The patient will look completely natural with his or her new brow, as Dr. Deuber is careful to avoid producing a surprised, stretched look. After the skin of the forehead has been surgically redraped, Dr. Deuber closes the incisions.
After Brow Lift Surgery
The results of brow lift surgery are more dramatic and longer-lasting than those produced by BOTOX® injections, but the patient’s face still appears natural. Unlike a facelift, the brow lift targets the forehead area specifically. You will be able to smile, frown, and make the same facial expressions after a brow lift as you did before.
Blepharoplasty (Eyelid Surgery)
Eyelid surgery is used to remove fat and excess skin from patients’ eyelid areas, correcting drooping lids and restoring a youthful and refreshed appearance to the face. Patients may choose to have an upper-lid-only blepharoplasty, a lower-lid-only blepharoplasty that reduces under-eye sagging, or a combination of both.
About the Procedure
This surgery is performed through tiny incisions made along the creases of the upper or lower lids. During a blepharoplasty at our Dallas surgical center, Dr. Deuber gently removes excess muscle and fatty tissue through these incisions. Drooping skin that contributes to a tired appearance may also be carefully excised at this time. After Dr. Deuber has removed this tissue, he closes the incisions with fine sutures.
Recovery From Blepharoplasty
Dr. Deuber takes special measures to ensure a swift recovery for his eyelid surgery patients. Blepharoplasty patients typically can watch television and read a few days after surgery and may return to work within a week. The scars left by the incisions will fade over time and eventually appear only as subtle, very thin white lines following the natural creases of the eyes. The results of eyelid surgery can be dramatic because of the importance of the eyes have to the patient’s overall appearance; even better, the results are extremely long-lasting and keep patients looking youthful for many years to come.
